Gary Lineker reacts to Liverpool’s victory over Shrewsbury

England legend Gary Lineker has reacted to Liverpool’s FA Cup replay victory over Shrewsbury Town at Anfield on social media.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp and his senior players all took the night off to honour the inaugural Premier League winter break, which meant Liverpool under-23 boss Neil Critchley had the job of leading a very young Liverpool team against Shrewsbury.

This decision by Klopp received quite a fair bit of criticism. However, it proved to be the correct one, as the kids claimed a 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury courtesy of a Ro-Shaun Williams own goal.

Lineker posted on Twitter after the match claiming that all the criticism Klopp received for resting his senior players was for nothing in the end.

The match was a great night for the club. The kids gained invaluable experience playing at Anfield, and they will be better for it in the future.

Liverpool face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the next round of the FA Cup.
