Liverpool and Wolves have agreed on a fee for the winger.

The story broke earlier on Friday that, in addition to signing Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, Liverpool were also nearing a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for their winger, Diogo Jota.

Late on Friday evening, several well respected Liverpool journalists have confirmed that the deal is done and Jota will soon be confirmed as a Liverpool player.

The deal is reportedly for five years and starts at £41m, but could rise to a possible £45m, assuming certain conditions are met. This is a considerable sum of money, and shows the club’s desire to continue competing at the highest level. According to Melissa Reddy and other sources, Wolves agreed to staggered payments, with only the first 10% of the fee paid in the next 12 months.

The 23-year-old Portuguese international has been of interest by the club for some time, and they have finally pulled the trigger to sign the talented winger as a boost to their already vicious attack.

At the same time, defender Ki-Jana Hoever will move in the opposite direction for a fee of £9m upfront, plus a possible £4.5m in add-ons down the line.

The club haven’t officially announced the deal, but that is expected over the weekend.
