Welcome to Liverpool: Thiago Reacts to the Move to Merseyside
Liverpool’s new signing reacts to his move on social media and in his first interview
After being officially announced as a Liverpool player, Thiago Alcântara quickly rewarded fans’ excitement in his first interview for the club. Asked why he chose a move to Liverpool, Thiago referenced his age and a desire to win more and varied trophies.
“At the end, when the years are passing, you are trying to win as much as you can,” Liverpool’s new signing said. “And when you win, you want to win more. I think this club describes what I am as well; I want to achieve all of the goals, win as many trophies as possible.”
His words will be music to Reds fans’ ears as the Champions of England look to add to their burgeoning silverware collection in 2020/21. A desire to win wasn’t the only thing on his mind, however, as Thiago noted also the values the club represents:
“[Liverpool] also [has] this kind of family [feeling] that I need because we [like to] have a very close relationship with the club and I think I will feel this, I will have this feeling, with this club as well.”
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is quick to emphasize the coup involved in securing Thiago’s signature in his Thiago-signing interview, telling fans that “a player like Thiago – settled that much at Bayern – is usually out of reach for pretty much everybody. If the player doesn’t want [to move] massively then you have no chance... but did I think about him earlier? I thought a lot about him but never as a potential transfer, to be honest.”
The mutual respect between the manager and his new player is promising as Thiago joins a squad of players he already “admires.” He has an eye for improvement, too, hoping “to help the guys if I can help them to be even better than they are, and I can be better than I am” as he beds in with his new Liverpool teammates.
From the looks of his social media, Thiago is excited to become a Red. While playing at Bayern Munich, Thiago describes watching Liverpool from afar with a “positive jealousy” that will delight fans: “They deserved it for sure, congratulations, but I want to win mine.”
This hungry mentality will be a very welcome addition to the squad he joins, as the title-winners themselves have an infamous mentality for winning.

His Instagram story, which includes a heartfelt farewell to Bayern Munich, transitions into a view of Anfield from the air, as the Spaniard emphasizes his gratitude to his former club alongside his optimism for future achievements.
What should we expect going forward? The Reds’ new signing is quick to match fans’ excitement: “They are not more excited than I am, for sure not! It is not about saying words, it is about doing the things. I will give my heart on the field to my teammates, the club and also to the fans.”
To say the least, fans should look forward to seeing “wonderful” Thiago Alcântara in action for Liverpool.
