Harry Wilson Attracting Championship Interest
The Welshman could still move before the domestic window closes.
Oh you thought the Liverpool squad was settled for the season now that the international transfer window had closed? Oh my sweet summer child, there is no such reprieve. In a reversal of last year’s travesty, where the English window closed on the eve of the season’s opening fixture while the rest of Europe continued doing business for another two weeks, the international window has closed early this year, while the domestic window has had a two-week extension.
Not that the Reds are likely to sign anybody. There might be an outgoing or two, however, and with Marko Grujic having left for Porto on loan and Xherdan Shaqiri rejecting transfer interest in order to pick up another major trophy while putting in triple digit minutes, only Harry Wilson remains of the trio that were widely tipped to leave this summer.
Now, according to John Percy at the Telegraph, the 23-year old has attracted significant interest from a number of Championship clubs, including Derby — where he spent the 2018/19 season on loan — Swansea, Cardiff and Nottingham Forest. Wilson was on loan at Bournemouth last year, and while he started the season brightly, scoring half a dozen goals in the first three months, he fell out of favour as it became clear the Cherries would be battling relegation every week, and made only seven starts in the second half of the campaign.
There is no information on whether the clubs in question are in the market for a temporary or permanent move, but it is clear that Liverpool would prefer the latter, and with the Welsh international having racked up 30 goals and 7 assists in two and a half year of senior football, he should be considered a known quantity at this point, with a fixed price tag.
