Liverpool Adds Expedia Sleeve Patch to Kit
Patches will be available for free for any fans who have already purchased the 2020-21 kit.
Is there anything more 2020 than Liverpool announcing that the sleeves of the 2020-21 team kits (which already suffer from one of the worst collars of the season) will be adorned with the logo of a travel company? The Expedia patch debuted during this weekend’s Merseyside derby, which was full of things we really don’t want to discuss, so let’s focus in on the fact that Liverpool FC will be reminding us every match day that travelling was a thing we once all indulged in.
“I see a great synergy between the club and Expedia; as organisations we both understand the value of the right support, whether that means not having to worry about travel arrangements or knowing the 12th man is behind you every step of the way,” Matt Scammell, LFC’s commercial director, said when announcing the new partnership, apparently without a hint of irony but with a lot of appreciation for terrible puns.
“I’m delighted to embark on this journey with Expedia and looking forward to the relationship benefiting our global fanbase when we can all experience the freedom of football and travel once again.” [Italics added by the author to stop from feeling the crushing pain of van Dijk’s injury.]
For anyone that wants to be regularly taunted by the prospect of travel in the middle of a pandemic, the new patch will be available from December onwards.
