Liverpool Internationals: Jota Bags A Brace And An Assist

Our new boy impresses.

The signing of Diogo Jota has been a long time coming. The “pressing machine” does so many of the things that the front three does great, and is still young and can get even better as the years go by. He’s already been impressing with the minutes he’s been given and against Sweden in a Nations League tie, he put in a Man of The Match performance.

Lining up on the left side of a three-man attack alongside Joao Felix and Bernado Silva, Jota was a menace the entire game, with his speed, pressing and outside shooting threatening the Swedish defence on multiple occasions. Diogo opened the floodgates in the 21st minute, squaring the ball to Silva in slot home. He then added one just before the break with a nice control and volley in the box, firing into the bottom left corner. Jota saved the best for last, embarking on a solo run that he again finished into the left.

In less inspiring Nations League action, our Dutch pair of Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum featured in a 1-1 draw against Italy. A Donny van der Beek equaliser in the 25th minute saved a point for the Dutch after Lorenzo Pellegrini opened up the scoring in the 16th minute, Things do not look good for the Netherlands after the appointment of Frank de Boer, whose abysmal managing record and ultra-boring play style is already starting to wear on the team’s play.

Our English boys, Gomez, Henderson, and Trent, all started on the bench for England against Denmark in a 0-1 loss. Henderson made an appearance on the 76th minute mark, replacing Declan Rice. The game was lost by a pretty hilarious Harry Maguire second yellow card in the 31st minute.
