Nike Plans Leak For Liverpool 2021-22 Away Kit

Images suggest Nike is planning a throwback to the classic 1996-97 “ecru” kit

It has been solid start to the multi-year kit deal between Nike and Liverpool. After developing a comfortable relationship with earnestly original New Balance, many Reds supporters had worried that committing to the world’s largest sports apparel conglomerate would condemn fans to identikit products for years to come.

However, despite some initial gripes about passing similarities between some of Nike’s first Liverpool collection and kits from other clubs, the pessimism has largely been proven to be unfounded. A commitment to the color teal—sorry ‘Hyper Turquoise®—across the home and away designs has been well received after an initial period of trepidation from the traditionalists, leading to a boom in kit sales for the defending Premier League champions.

Leaks have revealed that Nike is already working on next season’s kits, with the provisional designs marking a throwback to Liverpool “ecru” kits from the 1996-97 season. Two reliable kit design sources, Footy Headlines and the Twitter handle @fumlerRawk, were the ones to break the story.

It is understood that the 2021-22 collection will include black shorts, while the shirts will be a light beige, fossil/ecru-like color combined with a “dark atomic teal”. The leak also provided rumors of a third kit composed of yellow and red as a potential throwback to the Reebok 1997-98 away shirt.

Next season is a long way away and Nike could certainly alter their plans in light of the leak. However, Liverpool supporters will be pleased to know that the Nike-Liverpool partnership is well on its way to making its mark.
