Rumour Mongering: Real Madrid Join Gini Wijnaldum Chase

Barcelona and Inter Milan might have some competition for Wijnaldum, who could still re-sign with Liverpool.
We’re just six weeks from the January transfer window, when players out of contract in the summer will be free to sign pre-contract deals with clubs from outside the Premier League. And we’re in the midst of an international break.
It’s probably little surprise, then, that we’ve had a steady stream of Gini Wijnaldum stories, with the Liverpool veteran in the final year of his deal and a widespread belief he’ll be joining a club on the continent on a free next summer.
And today brings with it a new supposed development: reports in Spain elaborating on reports in Italy claiming Real Madrid have joined previously rumoured suitors Inter Milan and Barcelona in the chase for the 30-year-old.
Today’s rumours follow on from Italian claims earlier in the week that Liverpool still wanted to re-sign the player and had tabled a three-year deal that took his wages above £100k per week while his other options were Inter and Barca.
With doubts over both manager Ronald Koeman’s long-term future at Barca and concerns regarding the club’s finances, though, Mundo Deportivo think Madrid could be set to steal a march on their La Liga rivals and swoop for Wijnaldum.
One imagines whatever the future holds for Wijnaldum, with January drawing ever closer we at least shouldn’t have to deal with the rumour mongering and reports in one country elaborating on reports in another for much longer.
