Dio-goal Jota, am I right? (Also, please be fit.)

Liverpool’s new no. 20, Diogo Jota has won the Fans’ Player of the Month award administered by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).

The prolific 24-year old Portuguese goal-scorer has already netted 9 goals in 17 appearances for Liverpool and has shown no signs of slowing down. His knack for finding space amidst defenders at the right moment, his pace, and his chemistry with the front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have made him a treat to watch on the pitch. Off the pitch, his quick adaptiveness and willingness to “get with Jurgen Klopp’s program”, so to speak, have won him the confidence of the coach surprisingly early on in his stint at the club.

Jota transferred from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Liverpool this past summer for an initial fee of £41million, and is now valued at €84 million by CIES.

He has won the PFA award in an online poll of fans, ahead of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Kane, Sergio Reguilon, Jamie Vardy and James Ward-Prowse.

The news of his award coincides with an update from Klopp on his fitness however. Talk about too much of a good thing.

Klopp stated that he picked up a knock in the mid-week Champions League game against FC Midtjylland, and his game readiness may have to be assessed before this Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Fingers and toes crossed that it’s not too serious.
