David Lynch shared an update on a potential new target

Journalist David Lynch shared an update on Liverpool FC’s potential summer plans. Left-back figures to be a position they address. Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has been a well-established name in the rumour mill, but he also dropped a new player, Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez.

The 23-year-old Spanish left-back is a former Real Madrid product and played against Liverpool in the Champions League this season. He is a technical player who excels at distributing and progressing the ball, and it’s easy to see why the Reds would be interested. Valued at around €27.6m, he would also be cheaper than a move for Kerkez, with Bournemouth almost certainly set to demand more than £50m for one of the Premier League’s better young talents.

However, it is also important to note that Girona are owned by City Football Group, the same group that own Manchester City. This almost guarantees they will be reluctant to sell to the Reds, making this deal tricky. It is difficult to see CFG wanting to sell to Liverpool, and even if they move Gutierrez on, with Manchester City in need of a squad overhaul, they may push for him to head to Manchester instead. Liverpool would almost certainly have to pay over the odds to in negotiations to get their man in such a scenario.
