Preview: Brighton v Liverpool
A tough Premier League fixture awaits when Jürgen Klopp’s mentality giants face Wolves.
WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS VS. LIVERPOOL
| Sunday, December 6th |
Premier League | Anfield
7:15 PM GMT / 2:15 PM EST
Liverpool will allow fans to attend this game on the Kop with up to 2,000 fans being permitted at Anfield for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic froze spectator attendance at football stadiums. Seats will be spaced through social distancing and fans will be required to submit a health status the day before.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita returned to training for Liverpool on Friday and could potentially feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Despite the long injury list Liverpool have kept five clean sheets in the past 10 games. Diogo Jota’s sensational goal-scoring run might see him feature against his former club.
Alisson is still out of contention due to a hamstring injury that could see him sidelined for up to two weeks, while James Milner is injured as well. Thiago Alcantara is in rehabilitation currently, while Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez remain long-term absentees.
Projected Liverpool Lineup (4-3-3)
Caoimhin Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones; Salah, Jota, Mané
Wolves will be without key playmaker Raul Jiménez who suffered a fractured skull at their game against Arsenal. Prior to that he had played 86 consecutive Premier League games for the club. Romain Saiss is available after recovering from COVID-19.
What the Managers Had to Say
Jurgen Klopp: “Everything has been more difficult without the fans. Now we have a few back which is really nice. It gives the club the chance to show we can deal with it. Football is more difficult on a bad pitch, it’s more difficult with wind and it’s more difficult without fans.”
Nuno Espirito Santo: “I am happy, really happy. We want fans back and on Sunday there will be 2,000 of them, even though they are not Wolves fans, they are football fans and this is what the game needs. It needs the fans back in the stadium.”
