Jurgen Klopp’s Fixture Complaints Are Not Shared By Jose Mourinho

Jurgen Klopp’s recent complaints about fixture congestion and its impact on player health have not been shared by Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho. His side has faced a hectic schedule recently owing to Europa League and Carabao commitments,, but he had no sympathy for Klopp’s concerns.
“By the way, we played four matches in one week and nobody was crying or supporting us about it,” Mourinho said.
“And now my colleagues, when do they play these matches?”
“Klopp arrived by 2015,” said the Tottenham manager. “I arrived in 2004 so what he knows from 2015, I know since 2004.
“And nothing changes. We have to adapt to it and that’s the way it is.”
“I can understand their position but at the same time the situation is so difficult and so frustrating for everybody that I believe we have to accept all these things for the good of football, the good of people’s happiness and the perspective of ‘this is going to change for the better’.
“For me, we have to accept and adapt.”
Mourinho’s gentle dig at Klopp’s comments incites mixed responses, given the long list of injuries that Premier League clubs are faced with and the unnatural circumstances of playing amidst a pandemic like COVID-19. Klopp has brought up the issue before and has hit out at the risk posed to players. The Reds have played a total of 12 games in October and November with about three to four days of rest between some games. Mourinho’s deal-with-it stance is at odds with other managers like Pep Guardiola who share Klopp’s views on the issue.
