Andy Robertson’s Hopes for 2021
He wants Liverpool to keep up the good results in the new year.
Safe to say that it will be lost in the shuffle of the festering misery pit that was 2020, but that was the year that Liverpool finally earned their coveted 19th league title, breaking a 30+ year drought. For Liverpool fans, it was a bright, shining light amidst a whole lot of darkness, even if the celebrations had to take place at an empty Anfield.
But now it’s 2021, and Andy Robertson hopes that the Reds can keep the good times rolling in terms of strong performances and good results. The end of 2020 wasn’t the greatest lead in, with the team managing only two sad draws to finish off the year.
Andy Robertson shares your frustrations but hopes that the new year will bring back their old form.
“Obviously we’re still top – of course we would have liked to be top by a couple more points than we have,” he admitted.
“The last couple of games have been frustrating for different reasons but we’re entering the New Year top of the league and looking to kick on now. Hopefully we can put a run of wins together that can cement our place at the top. But we know it’s not going to be easy. I think this season has shown that from every team. We need to be at our best to win games of football this season.”
The next challenge that faces them will be a trip to St. Mary’s to take on Southampton, where Danny Ings will be there to great his old teammates. Three points to see in the new year would be a welcome relief for the Reds, but if the last two games are anything to go by, it won’t be easy.
