Nat Phillips Knows to Watch Out For Ings Threat
The Reds will face their former teammate.
The Reds will be looking at a reunion when they head to St. Mary’s for their match against Southampton. Former Liverpool player Danny Ings will lead the attack against them. Ings is Southampton’s top goal scorer, netting six goals so far this season. Liverpool fans will be unsurprised at this news, since Ings was always a talent when he could avoid injury.
Nathaniel Phillips spoke about the threat that Ings poses on Monday night.
“He has really found his feet when he’s been playing games and he has managed to get some momentum himself and get on the scoresheet quite often. So we’ll have to be aware of him,” Phillips told the official site of Ings.
“But we’ll have to approach the game like any other game and be prepared for everything. And hopefully come out of that with three points.
“They’re doing really well, so it’ll be a tough game again. But we’ve got to pick ourselves up, take the point [from Newcastle] and move on to the next game and push for three points in that.”
It’s never fun to have a former player score against Liverpool, so hopefully the defense will show the resilience that it needs to prevent that embarrassing situation. And if Sadio Mané wanted to put a few past them instead, I wouldn’t be against it.
