A report out of France claims a new potential defensive target for the Reds, RC Lens’ LoĂŻc Bade.

Liverpool have resorted to playing two midfielders at centre half in recent weeks and will even in the best case scenario be without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the majority of the 2020-21 season.

Unsurprisingly, that’s left fans and pundits talking about the club needing to sign a centre half. Which has meant links to potential targets. And today brings a new name, RC Lens’ 20-year-old defender LoĂŻc Bade.

Bade is playing out his first season in Ligue 1 with Lens following a youth career at Le Havre, and is said to have impressed with 16 league appearances so far this season a solidly mid-table Lens side.

Now, Le10Sport claim an exclusive regarding Liverpool interest, calling the English club “seduced” and saying that they’re “active behind the scenes,” hard at work on a deal for the young French centre half.

This follows previous reports from TĂ©lĂ©foot La ChaĂ®ne that suggested AC Milan were considering a move for Bade, and Le10Sport hint at a possible bidding war for the player—but not until summer.

While it’s impossible to say with certainty what all the transfer chatter means, a young French player with 16 Ligue 1 games under his belt for a mid-table side sparking a major bidding war seems a stretch.

It’s always likelier in a case like this—especially considering Liverpool’s well reported issues at centre half—the agent of a young player who has impressed is dropping names to try and get a better contract.
