The 24-year-old Welsh winger joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of eight and today departs in a permanent deal.

Harry Wilson joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of eight. He became a full academy member at 15 and made his full senior Wales debut at 16 years of age. Great things were expected from the young winger by many.

In the end, those great things never came with the Reds, but Wilson will now have a chance to play and grow with Fulham, with the Championship side officially completing a £12M deal for the player today and signing him to a long-term deal.

The deal includes a 15% sell-on fee, and both that and the top line number would appear a solid return for the Reds in the current depressed transfer market.

However, in order to get around Championship FFP regulations, Fulham will reportedly not make their first payments on Wilson until 2022, meaning any short-term return for a Liverpool side still expected to sign a midfielder and forward this summer will be nonexistent.

In the seven years since Wilson signed his first professional contract with the Reds, the young winger made two senior appearances for the club. In that time, he headed out on loan to Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth, and Cardiff City.

With Fulham, he should get the opportunity to be a key player and regular starter for Marco Silva as the Portuguese manager seeks to get the Cottagers back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
