The Argentinian coach was appreciative of Elliott’s supportive comments towards Pascal Struijk on social media.

Harvey Elliott was ruled out for an extended period due to injury last week. He dislocated his ankle as the result of a scissor tackle by Leeds United’s Dutch defender, Pascal Struijk. The injury was followed by a red card for Struijk, and a three-game ban in the Premier League. Elliott voiced support for the defender on social media however, saying that the challenge was not deliberate.

And his gesture was appreciated by Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa.

“The generosity Elliott had to describe things as they were, it helps to ease the effect on Pascal,” said Bielsa in a press conference, as reported by HITC.

“The footballers always end up being the most pure thing in football, the players say what they think without speculating.

“When the injury to Elliott happened, the demands of it was explicit, the convenience of playing half an hour with one player less, behind evidently a grave injury to player, the pressure of the referee had that intention.

“But the players are a lot less speculative than us.

“I value a lot what Elliott [said that] made Pascal exempt.”

The latest update on Elliott’s fitness revealed that his surgery was a success. The club has not mentioned a timeline for his return, but they expect him to play again within this season.
