The right-back did not travel to Portugal with the team.

Though there has been no explanation from the club, Trent Alexander-Arnold has not traveled to Portugal with the rest of the team. Liverpool take on Porto away for the second Champions League group stage game on Tuesday. Alexander-Arnold, a player who’s usually first on the team sheet, has been left at home.

According to The Echo, Trent trained at Kirkby on Monday, but then did not get on the plane. The implication is that he was injured during training, but the club hasn’t confirmed that yet.

Neco Williams has returned to fitness, and could take his place if Klopp doesn’t choose trusty James Milner instead.

However, the real concern isn’t for this match against Porto, but rather about the weekend’s big clash against Manchester City.

The last three seasons have been a constant battle between City and Liverpool for dominance, and any time they play each other, the stakes feel very high. Hopefully whatever the problem is facing Alexander-Arnold is only a minor issue, and he’ll be ready to go again by the weekend.
