Liverpool Internationals: Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Kostas Tsimikas and Others Feature
Seven players featured in World Cup qualifiers and friendlies around the world on Tuesday.
In Tuesday’s international matches, seven Liverpool players featured in games around the globe with mixed results.
Sadio Mane helped Senegal to a 3-1 victory over Namibia in World Cup qualification. They remain top of group H after four games played.
In other good results, Andy Robertson led his fellow Scotsmen to a much needed victory over Faroe Islands. The controversial late goal scored by Lyndon Dykes in the 86th minute boosted Scotland into second place in over Israel and got them near the victory line to qualification in group F.
Takumi Minamino similarly helped Japan to a big 2-1 win over Australia. The Japanese have struggled in this qualifying campaign, but this win brings them within three points of Australia, who are second in group B after only four games.
Jordan Henderson was a second half substitute in England 1-1 draw against Hungary. However, despite that hiccup, the Three Lions still remain atop group I.
Naby Keita played the full 90 minutes, but came away bereft when his Guinea lost 4-1 against Morocco. The team has not notched a single victory in this World Cup qualifying campaign and look to be missing out in Qatar.
Lightning failed to strike twice for Kostas Tsimikas and Greece, who could not replicate their previous win over top ranked Sweden in the return fixture. The Greeks lost 2-0 and are stuck in third place after eight games in group B.
Caoimhin Kelleher kept a clean sheet for the Republic of Ireland’s friendly against Qatar, which they won easily, 4-0.
With that, the October international break has concluded, and the players will return to Merseyside if that haven’t already to prepare for the match against Watford at the weekend.
