Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Make Fresh Karim Adeyemi Enquiry
The 19-year-old striker is having a breakout season and is said to be certain to leave Salzburg next summer.
Over the opening weeks of the 2020-21 season, few players in Europe have stood out like RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi, with the 19-year-old already racking up 11 goals and two assists in 16 appearances for the Austrian side.
He’s also a player who Liverpool have been linked to in recent months, even from before it started to become clear just what sort of a breakout season he was embarking on. And now, the Reds are said to have made a fresh enquiry.
That’s the story from Sky Germany at least, who says Liverpool have in recent weeks approached Salzburg and the player for a second time as they seek to lay the foundations for a future move for the young German international.
However, they may not be favourites for his signature, with the claim being that the player currently favours a return to Germany and is somewhat hesitant to make a move to England at this early stage in his still very young career.
Further, Sky Germany claim three Bundesliga clubs hold serious interest in the player: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig. Given the nature of Red Bull’s football pyramid, it’s the latter who might be favourites.
Still, if the claims are accurate it suggests the Reds are at least serious in their interest—and that even if they may not be favourites for his signature in October, 2021, they haven’t given up on eventually winning the race to sign him.
