Rumour Mongering: Reds Scouting Keïta Compatriot
Another diminutive, industrious Guinean midfielder could be on the Reds’ radar.
It’s the international break so, for a large contingent of football fans, the main concerns over the coming weeks will be gnashing teeth over whether any of their club’s players are going to get hurt playing for their country, and keeping up to date on the most recent transfer rumours.
Liverpool fans are no exception to this, of course, and so a fresh new name on the hypothetical shortlist is welcome news. This time, the reported target of the Reds’ attentions is Olympiacos’ Aguibou Camara.
According to Greek outlet SporTime, the Merseysiders were among the clubs attending a recent erythrolefki fixture in order to pass judgement on the 20-year old, coming away impressed and with plans to further track the young man’s progress.
Primarily deployed as a central attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1, the Guinean is extremely dynamic and a terror to opposing ball carriers, as he will harry and press them any chance he gets. On the ball, he is an assemblage of quick feet and hard cuts, if a little light in the goalscoring department for somebody who spends so much time in the final third.
Already a full Guinea international, the former Lille starlet featured alongside Naby Keïta in tonight’s disappointing draw with Sudan — he assisted his country’s only goal with a precisely delivered corner — and there is a high probability conversation between the two at the very least mentioned the noise of a roaring Kop and the warmth of a Klopp hug.
No fee has been suggested yet, as indications are the Reds’ interest is at a preliminary stage, but Olympiacos consider themselves to have a good relationship with Liverpool following the transfer of Kostas Tsimikas last summer, and would likely be amenable to making a deal should the relevant parties be interested in making it happen.
