Rumour Mongering: Asking Price for Frankfurt’s Pacho Set
It’s not that steep, but eh.
Liverpool FC have been linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s 22-year-old centre-back Willian Pacho over the last few weeks. With Joël Matip expected to depart at the conclusion of his contract this summer, links with central defenders are naturally heating up.
The Ecuadorian looks to have the traits needed to play centre-back for Liverpool: namely, he’s fast as heck and can cover ground rapidly, which should suit him well in a high-line. However, as we’ve also highlighted before, his aerial ability is a bit of a weakness. His aerial duel percentage (according to FBref) currently sits at 56.6%, an almost 20% dropoff from Virgil van Dijk’s 76.1%.
Nevertheless, Liverpool seem to be interested. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg had this update to share:
Eintracht Frankfurt, still keen about the interest from @LFC in Willian #Pacho!

But been told there’s no contact between the clubs at this stage. #LFC
Price tag for the 22 y/o center-back has been set: €50-60m in transfer fees for a transfer in summer. Contract valid… pic.twitter.com/4dEO3912iX
It’s an okay price tag, considering his contract doesn’t end until 2028. I don’t know if it makes that much sense from a value perspective compared to potential deals out there, like Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, who is available on a free transfer. If Liverpool are inclined to pay more, they could land someone like Palace’s Marc Guehi. Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida could also follow his manager to Liverpool at a price that’s probably less steep. We’ll continue to see how this story develops.
