Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Target Ederson is Premier League Curious
The 24-year-old Brazilian holding midfielder has previously been linked with Tottenham, Newcastle, and Juventus.
While Liverpool are fully stocked—some would even say overstocked—in the central and advanced midfield roles, with plenty of high quality players capable of playing the eight and ten roles already in the squad, some see room for improvement further back.
That has led in recent weeks to a smattering of links to Atalanta’s 24-year-old Brazilian Ederson, with the player fresh off a Europa League victory in his second season in European football and widely tipped to potentially depart the Italian club over the summer.
“I’m happy at Atalanta [and] my focus is on Brazil now,” the Brazilian holding midfielder told AS this week. “I like Italy but I’m also curious about the Premier League. The only possibility to leave is if Atalanta receive a proposal and the they decide. It’s up to Atalanta.”
There’ve been no firm links to the Premier League curious midfielder from journalists with ties to Liverpool—in fact there have been no firm links to anyone since the return of Michael Edwards to the club—but Ederson’s words will certainly encourage speculation.
Ederson has also been linked with Tottenham and Newcastle in England, as well as to Juventus in Italy, and during the January window there was speculation that Atalanta had set his value at around €35M—though that valuation may have since risen.
