Thiago Alcantara Retires from Professional Football
The decorated midfielder was plagued by injury but still produced many moments of magic on the pitch.
33-year old midfielder Thiago Alcantara has retired from professional football, outlets reported today.
Born in Italy to Brazilian parents, and spending most of his career at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Thiago joined Liverpool in 2020.

His arrival at Liverpool was met with great interest since his technical prowess and subtle yet impactful playmaking skills were known and admired. Across his four year spell, he was plagued by injury often, but still managed to form a special bond with Liverpool fans almost instantly.
In Jurgen Klopp’s squad, Thiago made 98 appearances, scoring three goals and six assists, including this stunning goal against Porto. While at Liverpool, he won the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
His Barcelona and Bayern careers have seen multiple Champions League trophies, La Liga, and Bundesliga wins however.
