The Colombian scored a brace to help Liverpool defeat Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Sunday was fun, wasn’t it? Liverpool traveled to Old Trafford and soundly defeated them on their home turf, keeping a clean sheet all the while. Arne Slot’s men took control of the game in the first half, thanks to a brace from Luis Diaz, and his first since 2022.

The Colombian has been in fine form since returning for the season, scoring three goals in two matches. He spoke with Sky Sports following the match, translated by goalkeeper (and another star of the season’s start) Alisson Becker.

“I’m very happy to score goals to help the team,” Diaz said to reporters.

“The most important thing is that the team is doing so well, winning games and winning this important game. I’m looking forward to the rest.

“I’m so happy to perform so well, I want to keep this rhythm and help the team all the time.”

Mohamed Salah added the cherry on top of the match by scoring a third just at the start of the second half, helping the match to finish at 3-0 and put the Reds in second on the table. (I know, it’s too early to be looking at the table).

“It’s what strikers have to do: score goals, give assists,” the No.7 added. “I’m going to keep working in a humble way, working hard to keep helping the team and to achieve our goals.”

The most important win for Arne Slot so far and it looks like the right standards are being set by our attacking squad for the rest of the team. Liverpool will be in action again following the international break.
