Youth Watch: U18s Drop Points at Newcastle

The Young Reds were held on their visit to Newcastle.
Liverpool’s visit to Newcastle in U18 Premier League North action began well enough. Young striker Kareem Ahmed put the Reds ahead with a clean strike just 5 minutes into the match. Unfortunately, though, that would be the lone highlight for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side.
The Reds would go on to allow 3 unanswered second-half goals from the Magpies. And when you’ve got that type of scenario, it really is quite elemental as to how the result will end.
Bridge-Wilkinson had some thoughts to share with the official site on the disappointing day.
“There’s lots of positives from the game but we need to start finding a way to make ourselves harder to score against and then with that take our chances in the opposition box. We just have to be harder to beat. It’s a bit of a tricky spell at the moment. We’re doing everything we can to learn the lessons required.”
The Young reds will now set their sights on a tilt with Leeds United next week as well as to prep for their newly announced opponents in the Premier League Cup, Reading, just a few days following. Busy days and no time to wallow on the loss, which is probably good for keeping the mindset positive and light.
