Could Liverpool win the title on Sunday when they visit Leicester City?

LEICESTER CITY VS. LIVERPOOL

| Sunday, April 20th |
Premier League | King Power Stadium
4:30PM GMT/11:30AM EST

Could this be it? Could tomorrow be the day that Liverpool definitively take home the Premier League trophy? Could Liverpool winning the league, Leicester City being relegated, Easter, and anything else you may or may not want to do on 4/20 all crash together in some kind of never-before-seen Super Holiday?

Math says that it’s possible. It would require Arsenal losing their match against Ipswich earlier on Sunday and then Liverpool taking all three points that afternoon when they face Leicester City. This would put Liverpool at 79 points with Arsenal only capable of hitting 78 points in the remaining five matches. Meanwhile, with West Ham drawing against Southampton on Saturday, Leicester need to win and Wolves need to lose in order for the Foxes to survive another week.

Whatever happen on Sunday, when Liverpool step out onto the pitch, it will be with the knowledge that arguably their two most important players, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, have committed to another two years with the club.

Liverpool eked out a last minute victory against West Ham that extended their lead to 13 points, but their performance was less than convincing. For a team who gave it their all in four competitions, it makes sense that they could be flagging come spring. However, they only need two more wins to guarantee the trophy, so they need to buckle down to get this over the finish line to make Arne Slot’s first season a roaring success.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup (4-3-3)

Alisson; Bradley, Konaté, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Jota, Diaz

Wantaway Scouser Trent Alexander-Arnold may make it to the bench for this game after a month out with an ankle issue. It looks like the only other injuries Slot needs to contend with are for Tyler Morton and Joe Gomez.

For Ruud van Nistelrooy, he’ll be without Harry Winks and Abdul Fatawu.

What the Managers Had to Say

Arne Slot: “My thoughts are, as always, on Leicester and on our team: how to improve, what can we do better. We couldn’t do many things better in the first half against West Ham [United] but we could do a lot of things better in the second half. So, during the start of the week we have worked on that a lot and now we are working towards Leicester. One game at a time and influence the one we can influence, and that’s the Leicester game.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy: “It’s a bigger thing here. We’re trying to shape a future here and those weeks are vital for every player. That is what keeps us going.”
