Scott Rogers Departs Liverpool FC Women

The cloud of uncertainty around Liverpool FC Women has started to lift slightly, with the announcement of new head manager Gareth Taylor joining after the departure of Matt Beard earlier this year.
There are some major questions about the appointment (a big one being “why him??”) but one of the smaller ones has already been announced. With the appointment of Taylor likely comes his own team of assistants, of course meaning the departure of the remaining squad helping Beard. While Amber Whiteley is staying, as Taylor announced in his first interview, the club did announce the departure of assistant manager Scott Rogers on Friday.
This isn’t the first time Rogers has departed the club, so the process isn’t exactly new. Rogers served as assistant under Matt Beard during his first spell with the club in 2012, before taking over as head manager in 2015 when Beard departed, back when they were still Liverpool Ladies. He then departed as the club hired Neil Redfearn in 2018, and returned to work once again with Matt Beard in 2023. He has since been working alongside Amber Whiteley since Beard left last season, and is set to leave once more.
“I would like to thank the players, staff and fans for a fantastic couple of years,” said Rogers in the announcement.
“It has been a pleasure to have worked at this football club across a number of years, and I wish everybody all the very best for the future.”
LFC Women managing director Andy O’Boyle said: “I would like to thank Scott for all of his hard work. On behalf of everyone at the football club, we wish him nothing but luck and success in the future.”
Thankfully Whiteley gets to stay with the squad she helped to steward during the end of last season as they adjust to a new and potentially polarizing head manager.
