Conor Bradley Sustains “Significant” Knee Injury And Is Out For The Season

Liverpool hoped for the best but expected the worst after Conor Bradley went down clutching his knee late in the game against Arsenal. It was a non-contact injury, which typically signals something significant has happened, but nothing was certain until after scans were done.

The results are back, and while the good news is that Bradley did not tear his ACL, he did sustain a “significant” knee injury according to Liverpool. It is reported that there is damage to both bone and other ligaments other than the ACL. Bradley will have surgery to repair the damage and is expected to miss the rest of the season. No other timetable has been given for his potential return.

It is another huge blow for Bradley, who has seen constant injury issues interrupt his nascent career. He dealt with age and growth related issues early on in his career that caused him to miss significant time. He has also been plagued with frequent soft muscle injuries as well and has struggled to stay on the pitch for long stretches of a season.

For the club, it is yet another major injury blow for a relatively thing squad. Young centerback Giovonni Leoni tore his ACL in his Liverpool debut earlier this season, while Alexander Isak sustained a broken leg against Spurs in the first match of the new year.

Bradley’s injury is also yet another worry for what has become a cursed right back position. Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong, and Joe Gomez have all missed significant chunks of time this season as the club has tried to fill the right back spot after the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Dominik Szoboszlai has been one of the most consistent presences at the position. Frimpong and Gomez are both currently healthy thankfully, but Frimpong has been filling in at the right wing position with Mohamed Salah away at AFCON with Egypt.
