Rumour Mongering: Saudi Clubs Interested in Liverpool’s Alisson Becker
Despite rumours early in the summer linking Alisson Becker with a move to Juventus, with the Serie A club never willing to pay a significant fee there was never any real chance of the Liverpool and Brazil number one heading to Italy and it didn’t take long for the Reds to signal nothing would come of such chatter.
Serie A aren’t the only place where there might be interest in the 33-year-old, though. Alisson is under contract through next summer and remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world when fit—but the stopper has become increasingly injury prone in recent seasons. And now, there’s chatter of potential Saudi interest.
According to TalkSport’s Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook—the former having known links to Liverpool’s under-performing sporting director Richard Hughes, who is expected to head to Saudi in a few months, and both having known links to the Saudi legue—there are at least three clubs there who are eying Alisson.
Al Hilal, where Hughes is expected to end up, as well as manager Brendan Rodgers’ Al Qadsiah and also Al Diriyah are mentioned as possibilities. However, Liverpool are said to be fully planning to go into the season with Alisson as their number one and to not be interested in selling or to have set a price for the player.
