Manchester United to challenge Liverpool for top target

Manchester United are to challenge Liverpool for Jürgen Klopp’s primary summer transfer target, Christian Pulisic.

Reports claim that José Mourinho has promoted the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund playmaker to the top of his wanted list and that could prove a problem for the Reds.

Pulisic is a long-term target of Klopp and the Liverpool boss has again instructed the senior management at Anfield to see if a deal can be brokered in the summer for the player who was recently valued at £40million. That fee will no doubt rocket if the likes of United make serious advances and that would be a concern for Liverpool who wouldn’t want to get involved in a bidding war.

Despite being under contract until 2020, there have been suggestions that Dortmund could now be tempted into doing business but their sporting director Michael Zorc insists that they expect Pulisic to honour his contract.
