Mohamed Salah Dreams Of Breaking Records, Champions League Glory

But can the Egyptian make his, and our, dreams come true?
If offered, many Liverpool fans would take the most boring of boring 0-0 draws tomorrow against Brighton & Hove Albion. Such a result would be more than enough to ensure Champions League football next season, regardless of whether Agent Rafa can do us a favor.
However, Mohamed Salah is not like you or me. He would not be satisfied with a point from a scoreless draw. He wants goals. He wants the all-time Premier League goal scoring record all to his lonesome, and he wants to make a run at Ian Rush’s all-time Liverpool single season tally of 43.
“You are talking about legends, every one of them scored many goals for many years,” Salah said in an interview at the Football Writers’ Association awards.
“I just want to break the record and we’ll see about after.”
As for the elephant in the room, the possibility of lifting a Champions League trophy, that idea was beyond his wildest dreams as a kid. But like us Liverpool fans, he’s dreaming now.
“I can’t say I dreamed of playing in the Champions League final [when I was young] because when you are a kid you can’t see the future.
“My dream was to be a professional. I sacrificed a lot when I was young, even until now. I wanted to play at a big club, that’s it.
“But every year your dreams become bigger and bigger and bigger. My dream the last two or three years is to play in the final of the Champions League, in fact not to play, but to win it.”
One thing seems clear with two massive games left on the schedule: if Mo’s dreams come true, so will ours.
