Egyptian Boss Rebuts Ramos’s Salah Claims

The Liverpool winger is being his normal, quiet, polite self. Don’t worry, Mo, there are no shortage of people who will defend you.

Despite some idiocy from The Mirror, the vast majority of Liverpool fans want to move past the disappointing loss in the Champions League final, and look forward to a promising campaign on the horizon.

However, certain events—such as news that Loris Karius sustained a concussion at the hands (or more accurately, elbow) of Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, and Ramos’s self-righteous horseshit statement that followed—continue to reopen the still-fresh wound. And so, here we are, still dealing with the fallout.

In said self-righteous horseshit, Ramos stated categorically that he could have continued playing with Mohamed Salah’s injury. Hector Cuper, the Egyptian national team head coach, disagrees.

“I’m not a doctor, I don’t know if Ramos is a doctor, but it’s a player who is playing a final and has an injury,” Cuper said, stating the blindingly obvious (both about Ramos’s lack of medical qualifications and the injury).

“I don’t have any doubt that if he could keep playing he would do it, because a Champions League final is extraordinary.

“My opinion is that Salah has an important injury, there is a recovering [process] that we can see, and we are optimistic about the chances he has to play in the World Cup.”

All signs currently point to Salah being on schedule to play for Egypt, in their first World Cup since 1990. It seems likely he won’t be 100%, but if he can go, he will, because that’s what top professionals do in the world’s biggest competitions.
