Players Report To Melwood For Day One of Pre-Season Training

Summer is over for many of Liverpool’s players.

The World Cup may still be in full swing, but the games are over for many of Liverpool’s players. Pre-season has officially begun, with 26 Liverpool players reporting to Melwood today for the first day of training.

Those in attendance include: Camacho, Chirivella, Clyne, Fabinho, Gomez, Grabara, Ings, Jones, Karius, Keïta, Kelleher, Kent, Klavan, Lallana, Markovic, Milner, Moreno, Ojo, Origi, Phillips, Robertson, Solanke, Sturridge, Ward, Wilson, and Woodburn.

Fans will be eager for new signings Keita and Fabinho to begin gelling with their teammates, though many of the big names are still in Russia battling it out for the World Cup. Also included on the list are some players who may not be around come next season, such as Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Lazar Markovic, and Divock Origi.

The two Dutch players on the team, Gini Wijnaldum and Virgil Van Dijk, while not in the World Cup, both played in friendlies for their country at the start of the summer, and so have been granted a few extra days of break. They will join their teammates shortly.

Liverpool players that have gone out of the World Cup, but still have a break before joining the rest of the squad, are Sadio Mané, Marko Grujic, and Mohamed Salah, whose countries both got sadly eliminated in the group stage.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Dejan Lovren, and Simon Mignolet are still alive in the World Cup.
