Chelsea eye Reds target Fekir

There has been a potentially key development in the long-running Nabil Fekir saga, with reports in France suggesting Chelsea are keeping tabs on the player, who was on the verge of joining Liverpool.

Liverpool cited injury concerns when they walked away from the near-complete deal last month.

Respected journalists have suggested that the record signing of Alisson may wrap up the Reds’ transfer business, but none have ruled out a renegotiated move for Fekir with more than a fortnight still remaining in the window.

Reports on Monday suggest Lyon are looking to put an end to the speculation once and for all by agreeing a new contract with Fekir, but there have been murmurs on social media that the Frenchman has refused their overtures.

L’Equipe – via GFFN – say there are no offers on the table for the moment, with an alternative suitor yet to emerge.

However, they claim that, should Eden Hazard leave for Real Madrid, which is certainly a possibility given the pressing need to replace Cristiano Ronaldo with a big-name forward, Chelsea could swoop for the versatile Fekir.

With Fekir understood to be keen on a move to Anfield, a move from the Blues could effectively force Liverpool to compete.

Jurgen Klopp has, from the beginning of the window, been keen to add a more creative, attacking presence to his midfield.
