Sturridge on Naby Keita: ‘He has got everything’

Daniel Sturridge is surprised at the breadth of talent that new boy Naby Keita possesses in his locker.

The two have struck up an instant affinity with each other both on and off the pitch this season, striking up a good partnership so far during this summer’s pre-season.

Daniel Sturridge appears to have returned to form once again, with Jurgen Klopp saying this week he wouldn’t doubt the ability of the England international when he maintains full fitness.

The striker, 28, admitted that he had heard of Keita’s talent before he joined the Reds this summer, but didn’t realise that the Guinea-born midfielder was a good as he has been during this pre-season.

Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, he said: “I love that guy. I’m surprised how good he is actually, if I’m honest. I knew he was good but I don’t watch German football too often.

“I haven’t seen a midfielder like him for a while, he is something different. It’s crazy. The things he can do with the ball – he can defend, he can pass, he can dribble, he is fast, he is strong. He has got everything,” he said.

The forward, who was on loan at West Brom for the second half of last season, admitted he is looking forward to seeing Keita when the level of competition increases.

“I’m excited to see what he does in the Premier League and the Champions League.

“I sit next to him in the changing room and we have a lot of banter; my French is terrible but I try my best. His English is OK. We share some good times and have a lot of laughs together. I like him a lot, he’s a good guy.”
