Henrik Larsson wants Roberto Firmino to start for Brazil

Henrik Larsson has made it clear that he wants Roberto Firmino to replace Gabriel Jesus as Brazil’s striker.

Larsson said that Brazil coach Tite has to consider giving Firmino a start against Belgium in the quarter-final after coming on and scoring in Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Mexico in the round of 16.

Jesus is yet to score in the World Cup despite starting all four matches Brazil have participated in, but Firmino on the other hand has looked a threat in every substitute appearance he has made.

“This is a tap in but he’s there at least,” Larsson told ITV.

“But you have to think a little bit now, four games [into the tournament that] Jesus hasn’t scored in.

“He comes on and scores with his first touch more or less.

“You have to start thinking about it.

“I also think that with Firmino in the team, there is a little bit better hold-up play and also combination play with him when he’s playing compared with when Jesus is playing.”
