Liverpool watching young Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper

Jurgen Klopp has sent his goalkeeping coach, John Achterberg, to scout Shamrock Rovers’ teenage goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, according to The Independent.

Achterberg witnessed the young goalkeeper in action in a 2-0 victory over Derry City, which saw Bazunu keep a clean sheet.

It is no secret that Liverpool are looking for a new goalkeeper as Simon Mignolet is set to depart. There is also the issue of whether Loris Karius will retain the number one goalkeeping position after his horrendous Champions League final performance.

Brendan Rodgers has had a bit to do with 16-year-old Bazunu when he was having a trial at Celtic, and he impressed Rodgers throughout. The youngster has also spent time at Arsenal and Brighton, but Celtic currently sponsor Bazunu’s school fees at Ashfield College.

With that being the case, Liverpool would need to find a way to lure him to Anfield with an offer that is too good to refuse.
