Klopp Believes Liverpool and Salah Can Be Even Better Together in Year Two

The signing of Mohamed Salah to a new long-term deals shows Liverpool are becoming a destination club.

Mohamed Salah has signed a new Liverpool contract a year after joining the club, one that brings his wage in line with Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk and sends a clear message to the world of football that Liverpool is once again becoming a destination club.

Even if his World Cup disappointed through no fault of his own, last season Salah was one of the game’s top three attackers on form. A new deal—one with no release clause—sends a signal the 26-year-old believes he can achieve something special staying at the club.

Even better might take some doing after a 44 goal, 16 assist debut season. The talent, though, is clearly there—both with Salah himself and in the attacking players around him who helped Salah to such a stellar debut campaign and will play alongside him again.

“The key thing to remember is the best thing about Mo is that he never sees himself as being more important than the team or anyone else within it,” Klopp added. “He recognises his teammates and this club helped him achieve individual success last season.

“He sees the individual awards come because he is part of something bigger that is special. Mo reflects where we are as a team, I think. Last season was special with many special moments—but we want more. We want to be more successful and achieve more together.”
