Latest on Zeljko Buvac’s future

Liverpool’s pre-season got underway today at Melwood, but Zeljko Buvac was not present.

Jurgen Klopp’s assistant departed in April with reports suggesting he had taken a leave of absence due to personal reasons.

Klopp was joined today at training with his backroom staff of Peter Krawietz, John Achterberg and Pepijn Lijnders, but there was no sign of Buvac.

According to The Mail‘s Dominic King and The Mirror‘s David Maddock, Liverpool will not hire a replacement with Buvac expected to vacate the role.

With this being the case, it seems as if Liverpool will have a change in ranks with one of the current backroom staff taking the vacant position.

Buvac was linked with moves to become the first-team manager at either Arsenal or Fenerbahce, but both the vacant positions have been filled at those clubs.

Buvac is contracted to Liverpool until 2022.
