It’s a Merseyside derby! Just not, you know, The Merseyside Derby. Instead of the Blues, Liverpool take on the Whites of Tranmere.

Liverpool, even without some of their brightest stars, made easy work of Chester at the weekend, running out 7-0 winners. The Reds, still sans the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane, take the competition up a level with newly-promoted League Two side Tranmere Rovers.

It should be another chance to impress for some returning and fringe players such as Harry Wilson, who surely didn’t hurt his first team chances with a brace in the first half last time out. But these players won’t have long to make an impact, as it is expected that Klopp will make wholesale changes at halftime.
