Rumor Mongering: Palace and Cardiff Battle for Grujic Loan
It seems Cardiff City have some competition if they want to re-sign Marko Grujic on loan.
By most accounts, Marko Grujic had a fairly successful second-half loan spell to Cardiff City last year, helping The Bluebirds (now once again wearing blue) to a second-place finish in the Championship and automatic promotion to the Premier League. The Serbian midfielder had 12 league starts and 14 total appearances in all competitions, and scored the decisive goal (his solitary tally in the campaign) in a 2-1 win over Barnsley.
Cardiff City are reportedly interested in taking the midfielder back to help with their top-flight efforts, but are facing competition from a new Premier League rival, Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace. Or at least that’s the word out of The Daily Mail.
Considering Liverpool’s two new additions in midfield—Rebeca Tavares’s husband, and Naby Keita—as well as more experienced mainstays, including captain Jordan Henderson, vice captain James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Adam Lallana, a loan move might be good for the 22-year-old Serbian if he wants to see the pitch (or even the bench) at any point this season.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in moving the youngster on a permanent deal, but would surely consider loan options if one does not materialize in the coming weeks.
