Assistant referee who misjudged Liverpool vs. West Ham goal dropped
Assistant referee Simon Beck has been dropped for this week’s Premier League fixtures after failing to spot an offside James Milner in the buildup to Sadio Mane’s goal against West Ham.
The first half strike helped earn Liverpool a point in a tough game at the London Stadium as Sadio Mane turned in the box to finish from Milner’s cross.
The Englishman was a few yards offside when he received the ball from Adam Lallana, who was exquisite in possession and seemed to almost bewitch Beck into failing to spot Milner in an offside position right in front of him.

The Mirror reports that Beck has “been spoken to by his bosses and ‘given the weekend to go shopping.'”
Pellegrini said on Thursday: “I don’t include the referee because it was the linesman’s mistake. For the first goal [Milner] was one and a half metres offside but if you see the linesman he was watching the ball, not the line.”
Origi was almost able to score a 92nd-minute winner and he too would have been offside but the linesman on the other end of the pitch didn’t raise his flag either.
