Salah earns nomination for Best Player award
Mohamed Salah has earned a predictable nomination for the 2018 Best Fifa Men’s Player Award following his astonishing debut season at Liverpool.
Salah joined the Reds from Roma for what would prove a modest £37million fee but many doubted his credentials after his earlier struggles at Chelsea.
But the Egyptian shattered all expectations, bagging a remarkable 44 goals in 52 appearances for Klopp’s side and breaking the record for the most goals in a 38-game Premier League season.
Despite carrying a serious shoulder injury, he then found the net twice for his country at the World Cup.

Salah is one of ten nominees for the award, which will be presented in London in September.
The 26-year-old is among the favourites to scoop the prize, though he may be edged out by Cristiano Ronaldo, instrumental in Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph.
There are three other Premier League nominees – Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Harry Kane.
The winner will be decided by a combination of votes from fans, from the media and from the captains and managers of national sides.
Salah is also set to be in contention for the Ballon D’Or, a separate and more prestigious prize. The shortlist will likely be announced in the early part of October.
Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp has been nominated for the equivalent managerial award, along with the likes of Didier Deschamps, Zinedine Zidane and Pep Guardiola.
