WORLD CUP 2018 | QUARTER-FINALS
Uruguay vs. France | 3PM BST/10AM EST
Brazil vs. Belgium | 7PM BST/2PM EST
We’re into the quarter-finals of the World Cup, and today brings us a pair of games with a Liverpool connection as former striker Luis Suarez and Uruguay take on France before Roberto Firmino and Brazil take on Belgium.
The day kicks off with the tough and in form Uruguayans taking on France, who entered the tournament as favourites but haven’t always convinced. They looked good in the Round of 16, though, and Uruguay will have to defend well against their pacy attack to have a chance—but they very much do have a chance, both to win here and to make it all the way to the final.
Then it’s Brazil—with Roberto Firmino still stuck to the bench despite the side looking considerably and consistently better when he’s on the pitch—taking on Belgium, who have Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet watching from the bench. Brazil will be the favourites here, but Belgium have finally had a tournament where they haven’t found a way to underwhelm and it could take another late Firmino goal or two to put Brazil through.
