Origi Latest: Liverpool Want An Obligation To Buy In Loan Deal

Borussia Dortmund remain frontrunners for the Belgian striker’s signature, but might need to commit to a long-term deal first.

This morning the Telegraph are reporting that Liverpool and Dortmund remain in conversations over the future of Belgian striker Divock Origi. Like with Danny Ings and Loris Karius, Liverpool are looking to secure a loan deal with an obligation to buy, hoping to recover the best value for their surplus players.

From Liverpool’s perspective, the problem is an understandable one: Origi currently only has two years remaining on his contract. If left until next summer, there is little chance of the club earning full value for Origi. As such, the club is seeking a permanent move away for the striker.

At the moment, Dortmund need to be convinced to commit the euros necessary to secure his long-term future, whether this summer or next. If so, they’ll need to act fast to wrap up the deal before the end of the month.

At the beginning of the summer, Liverpool were hopeful of someone coming in and paying around the £27 million valuation they had set for Origi, despite his lack of success at Wolfsburg. With a little over a week left, options are becoming limited to move the Belgian on, so this might be the last, best chance. Stay tuned.
