Rumour Mongering: Danny Ings Set for £24M Crystal Palace Move

We know Danny Ings is on his way out, and there are a few new claims as to where and for how much.
Danny Ings’ Liverpool future is fairly certain in that the 26-year-old striker has requested to leave the club as he searches for more regular playing time and manager Jürgen Klopp has sanctioned his sale. What’s less certain is where he might end up.
Over the past week, though, there have been a handful of reports linking the striker with a move to Crystal Palace, and today the claim is that a deal is nearing completion that would see Ings to Palace in a deal that could eventually net Liverpool £24M.
On the surface that’s a price that seems rather high, and given it is only less reliable outlets so far claiming a Palace deal is nearly done it could end up being, at the very least, a rather optimistic prediction when it comes to the potential transfer fee.
Still, Ings has a few points going for him, including the fact he counts as a homegrown player for squad purposes and that when fit for Liverpool his underlying statistics have been above average. It’s a steep fee, certainly, but there’s a case for it.
Add in the way transfer inflation has ramped up in recent season and, if he can stay fit, he could be worth that kind of fee to a mid-table Premier League side looking to both ensure their survival and maybe even push for the Europa League places.
It’s mostly the staying fit part that’s the question mark, but there’s enough money floating around the league these days that just maybe Crystal Palace really would be willing to take that chance—and if they are, it’s great news for Ings and Liverpool.
