James Milner discusses Liverpool’s title hopes

James Milner believes Liverpool need to get themselves in a healthy position halfway through the season before being considered title challengers.

The Reds last won a league title 30 years ago, but have come close since, the most memorable being the 2013-14 season where Brendan Rodgers’ side almost claimed a maiden Premier League title for the club.

Despite the solid start to the season with Liverpool winning four games from four in the Premier League, Milner believes that his teammates cannot get too far ahead of themselves.

“The manager has been here another season,” Milner told the Daily Star.

“So, we have to use the experience and the close calls we’ve had over the past few years to get over the line and finally win a trophy.

“To win the Premier League title, you’ve got to get yourself in a position halfway through the season where you’re talked about as being a genuine contender, and then take it from there.”
