Liverpool monitor impressive Rochdale teen
Liverpool are said to be among the clubs keeping tabs on hugely-promising 15-year-old Rochdale right-back Luke Matheson.
Matheson made his first-team debut for the Dale as a substitute in a Checkatrade Trophy game against Bury, replacing Connor Randall on 13 minutes when the Reds loanee was forced off with an injury.
He was awarded Man of the Match for his display in the 2-1 win, which came just hours after his first day back at school following the summer holidays.
Manager Keith Hill dubbed his performance ‘outstanding’ but insisted it was a ‘not of leap of faith’ given his impressive showings on the training pitch.

Indeed, he is regarded very highly indeed at the League One side, having first featured in a matchday squad when he was just 14.
It is understood that he has now caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, with the Mail naming Liverpool, along with rivals Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea, as an interested party.
