Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Make Adrien Rabiot Contact

Reports claim the Reds are in contact with the player’s agent and want to sign him to a pre-contract in January.

With Paris Saint-Germain and France midfielder 23-year-old Adrien Rabiot in the final year of his contract and refusing his club’s attempts to get him to sign a new deal, speculation has turned to not if the player will be departing the club but when and where.

Now, ESPN are claiming that Liverpool are in contact with the player’s agent and will seek to sign him to a pre-contract in January. If true, though, Liverpool won’t be the only side who are looking to bring in the young French star on a free next summer.

There have been strong links to Barcelona in recent months, while this week has also seen reports out of Italy claiming AC Milan are the player’s most likely destination. He has also been tentatively linked with Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United.

In short, there’s no shortage of rumoured suitors for Rabiot, and further there’s plenty of speculation that whichever club does in the end win his signature will seek to sign him to an agreement and then bring him in in January on a cut-rate deal.

Paris Saint-Germain have been desperate to sign Rabiot to a new deal for some time now but the player has resisted, believing he has not been given enough chances at the French club and favouring a move elsewhere as he seeks more playing time.

If playing time is his main concern, though, that he has started and played 90 minutes in PSG’s first four games this season could be a sign that he will get the minutes he desires in France and, just maybe, convince him to sign a new deal.
